What Does It Mean To
Thrive?
Right to Thrive (THRIVE) is a student-led nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to education, advocacy, and opportunity. THRIVE stands for “The Human Right is Voice and Equity,” reflecting our mission to help individuals feel informed, supported, and empowered. Through legal literacy workshops, community outreach, educational programs, and an affordable college consulting service, we connect students and community members with the knowledge and resources they need to advocate for themselves and pursue their goals.

Our Story
Right to Thrive was founded by high schooler Elizabeth Shen, who was inspired by her own experiences as the daughter of first generation immigrants. She grew familiar to how confusing legal paperwork often was when her parents looked to her to help in deciphering the words. They thought a language barrier was at fault, but much of the legal jargon was unfamiliar even to Elizabeth, a native speaker. Further experience in the legal field only supported her belief that something must be done to bridge the gap between the law and the community it was meant to serve.
She founded Right to Thrive in April of 2025, and has since coordinated extensive community outreach events, fundraising efforts, and workshops.
